Bhubaneswar: A crocodile that was spotted in the Puri Canal on the outskirts of the city has been rescued by forest department personnel. The crocodile, a Gharial was swimming in the Puri Canal for the past couple of days.
The croc was rescued on Friday and shifted to Nandankanan. The 12-feet-long gharial was spotted in the Puri Canal near Basundhara apartment at Hanspal in Bhubaneswar.
The Gharial is believed to have been washed away from the Mahanadi River through the Mundali barrage. People flocked in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the crocodile and click pictures.
