Bhubaneswar: A crocodile spotted in the Rajua river near Kanas in Puri has sent shockwaves through the locality. Residents of the nearby areas were panicked after spotting the aquatic creature.

The reptile was spotted roaming in the river on Friday morning triggering fears among locals.

Locals said that the crocodile is roaming between Tirumal and Haladiapada near Kanas. Villagers usually rely on the Rajua River for daily activities and are now hesitant to approach the waterbody.

A local said that they spotted the reptile in the river in the morning. It’s venturing close to the shore, sparking fear among people.

Residents urged the forest department to capture it immediately.

The crocodile is suspected to have come from the nearby Daya River. However, the forest department has yet to take action.
