Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths have unearthed assets worth over Rs 1.27 crore during house searches of a constable of the Odisha Police.
The assets were unearthed during simultaneous house searches at seven places on the properties of Nihar Ranjan Dandapat, a constable of Reserve Police Line of Baripada in Mayurbhanj district, said an official press statement.
The Vigilance today conducted house searches based on the allegation of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income against Dandapat.
The searches were conducted by seven teams led by 9 DSsP, 5 Inspectors, 1 SI, 5 ASIs, and other staff at seven places –1) triple storeyed building at Bhanjapur, Baripada Town, 2) Govt. quarter at Police line, Baripada 3) premises of cyber outlook at Baripada Town, 4) house at native village Belpal, Badasahi, Baripada 5) house of a relative at Chhend colony, Rourkela, 6) Hota Enterprises at Purna Chandrapur, Baripada Town and 7) Hota Enterprises at Murgabadi, Baripada Town.
During the searches, the anti-corruption agency has unearthed 1 triple storeyed building at Bhanjapur, Baripada Town, 2 numbers of plots including 1 plot at Bhanjapur and other at Belpal, Badasahi, Baripada in Mayurbhanj district, 2 numbers of four-wheelers (1 Volkswagen & 1 Duster), 3 numbers of three-wheelers, 4 numbers of two-wheelers, stock of computer accessories at Cyber Outlook over Rs 13 lakh, gold & silver ornaments worth over Rs 10 lakh, Bank & Insurance deposits, and other movable and immovable properties all totaling to over Rs 1.27 Crore.
Further searches are continuing, the press statement said.
