Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance today arrested Ashish Kumar Dash, Superintending Engineer, Rural Works Division, Malkangiri possessing disproportionate assets worth crores.
The Vigilance has registered a case against Dash under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018 and he will be forwarded to court tomorrow, while further investigation into the case is underway, said an official press release.
During searches at the Government residential quarter of Dash at Malkangiri, his office room, house at native village Jemadeipur in Jajpur district and his apartment at Trisulia, Cuttack, anti-graft agency officials unearthed Rs 1.39 crore in cash; deposits worth Rs 4 crore in fixed deposits, insurance, etc; gold weighing 2.5 kg worth Rs 1.25 crore; flat at Trisulia, Cuttack worth over Rs 32.30 lakh; and plot at Baripal in Keonjhar district in the former’s name and his family members.
While one more bank locker and a number of bank accounts are still being verified by the anti-graft agency, Dash’s disproportionate assets are likely to increase further, the press release said.
Dash was intercepted by Vigilance officials while he was removing cash from two carry bags in the manager’s room of DCB Bank, Malkangiri. During interception, suspected ill-gotten cash of Rs 10,23,970 was found in his possession and seized as he could not account for it satisfactorily.
