Crossing Railway Tracks Turns Fatal, Goods Train Crushes Female Pachyderm
**Rourkela: ** A female elephant aged about 10-12 years was killed on Wednesday evening after she met with an accident with a goods train near Pattasahi railway station under Banki forest range of Rourkela forest division.
According to sources, the goods train was heading towards Bondamunda from Bimlagarh station. The she-elephant was hit by the train while she was crossing the track at around 7 pm in the evening.
After getting information, forest and railway officials along with the locals thronged the spot.
On the other hand, the national highway near Khuntuni near Cuttack city got blocked for sometime as a herd of elephants, including a calf, were crossing the road.
