Bhubaneswar: The General Manager of Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), Odisha, Dipti Mahapatro has been selected as one of the 15 ‘Electric Women’ globally for her contribution in promoting one of its kind Gender Inclusive Electric Mobility in the Capital Region of Odisha.
‘Electric Women’ is an initiative by TUMI, GIZ & Women Mobilize Women under the fourth edition of Remarkable Women in Transport, programme. TUMI have awarded 149 women throughout the world as leaders in the race of transforming mobility on a global scale.
Mahapatro, works as GM(P&A) with CRUT and also holds the charge of Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC).
Mahapatro introduced one-of-its-kind Gender Inclusive Public Transport system ‘Mo E-Ride’ in Bhubaneswar, an electric rickshaw network that acts as a feeder service to Mo Bus Operations having women and transgenders as its drivers.
“E-Buses will soon be launched in the capital region of Odisha as a step towards Green Mobility. She has been successfully able to create a public transport ecosystem in Odisha that is sustainable, inclusive, accessible, affordable and safe for all,” she said on the occasion.
