Balasore: The Balasore district administration has imposed a curfew in the district for an eviction drive to facilitate the expansion of a railway line. The curfew will be in effect from 4 am to 10 pm today and tomorrow.
As per the Balasore administration’s decision, the curfew, which came into effect from 4 am today, will remain in place until 10 pm tonight and again from 4 am to 10 pm tomorrow. The restrictions have been imposed to maintain law and order in the area.
According to sources, the eviction drive was carried out today in the Arada Bazar area and the administration has taken measures to maintain law and order. The curfew has been imposed in areas including Haripur to Darji Pokhari, Kasimila to Phuladi, and Nuabazar railway gate to Gopalpur and Pariba Bazaar.
Also, Section 163 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been imposed, prohibiting the assembly of more than four people. Besides, police forces have been deployed in the area, and a police camp has been set up to maintain security.
According to reports, locals protested the eviction drive which led to clashes between the police and protesters. Finding no other go, the district administration has imposed curfew to bring the situation under control.
