Bhubaneswar: The 36-hour curfew imposed in Cuttack city ended at 10 am today, and the situation is gradually returning to normal. There have been no reports of fresh violence or untoward events. However, internet services will remain suspended till 7 pm today.
Police Commissioner S Devdutta Singh announced that curfew restrictions in Cuttack city have been relaxed as no curfew extension order was received, and life in the city is returning to normal. He appealed to residents to maintain peace and restore brotherhood.
The curfew was imposed on Sunday night in 13 police station areas, including Darghabazar, Mangalabagh, and Cantonment, after violent clashes broke out during a Durga idol immersion procession. Eight people have been arrested, and three cases have been registered in connection with the attack on police.
Police Commissioner S Devudatta Singh said that raids are continuing in different parts of the city to identify mischief mongers through CCTV footage. The administration is working to maintain peace and order in the city. Life in Cuttack is slowly getting back to normal, with people resuming their daily activities.
The government had clamped curfew following a violent clash during Durga idol immersion procession on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
