Cuttack: In a move aimed at ensuring smooth conduct of cultural programmes during the upcoming Bali Yatra 2025, the Cuttack district administration has relaxed loudspeaker timing restrictions, allowing their use till 11 pm throughout the duration of the historic festival.
The decision, taken by Cuttack District Collector and Magistrate Dattatreya Bhausaheb Shinde, was issued under Article 5(3) of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, keeping in mind public interest and the festive atmosphere. The relaxation will apply to the ‘Ganakabi Baishnab Pani Manch’ and ‘Akshaya Mohanty Manch’, two of the main cultural stages where performances are scheduled from November 5 to 13.
This year’s Bali Yatra will feature a vibrant lineup of cultural events and performances by renowned artists at the Ganakabi Baishnab Pani Manch, Akshaya Mohanty Manch, and Cuttack In Cuttack Manch, celebrating Odisha’s rich maritime legacy and cultural vibrancy.
At the same time, the district administration has imposed a strict ban on single-use plastics across the Bali Yatra grounds to promote environmental sustainability and ensure a cleaner, greener celebration.
Authorities anticipate a record footfall of nearly 50 lakh visitors at this year’s fair, which will be held across both the Upper and Lower Bali Yatra grounds.
Regarded as Odisha’s largest trade fair, Bali Yatra marks the auspicious occasion of Kartik Purnima, commemorating the ancient maritime voyages of Odia traders to Southeast Asian countries. The festival draws lakhs of visitors each year, offering a mix of shopping, entertainment, and cultural showcases, featuring traditional handicrafts, wooden artefacts, and locally made goods.
