Cuttack: Following a breach in the Kakatpur branch canal under the State Water Resources Department, villagers of Barimunda under Niali block has reportedly been marooned and are in a tizzy.
The incident took place last evening at around 6.30 pm.
Even though the Water Resources officials woke up to the occasion to take stock of the situation, the flow of water into the village had not been checked till the filing of the report. The villagers faced artificial flood in this dry season.
Reports said that the village ponds got filled with excess water and affected the fish farmers. Even the standing crop has been inundated.
Some villagers had to take shelter on the river bank as there houses got inundated.
