Bhubaneswar: The Cyber Police in Cuttack on Thursday arrested a youth for allegedly blackmailing over 100 girls and women by creating their morphed obscene photos and posting them on social media with fake IDs.
The accused, identified as Dinesh Kumar Sethi, was produced in a local court on Thursday.
Dinesh used to chat with girls and women on various social media platforms, including Instagram, and collect their phone numbers. After obtaining details of a girl, Dinesh downloaded her profile photo and opened a fake social media account in her name. He then posted the morphed absence photos of the girl on a fake social media account.
According to police, the accused then demanded money from the victims to delete their morphed photos from the social media platforms. He had blackmailed at least 100 girls and women by using their morphed photos.
