Cuttack: Hearing together the bunch of petitions filed by a number of aggrieved Puja Committees relating to the State Government’s strict guidelines amid the pandemic, the Orissa High Court today ordered the Advocate General (AG) for examining the heights of the idols of Goddess Durga being made on the various pandals and submit report on Monday.
Besides directing the AG to ensure security to the pandals, the court has also asked to see that the ongoing idol-making exercise is not interrupted.
The court today posted the next date of hearing on this matter to Monday.
Notably, the State Government has stipulated the height of the idols of Goddess Durga at maximum four feet this time for Covid protocols while near about nine pandals in the city have reportedly surpassed the mandatory height.
On the contrary, the respective puja committees have reportedly defended the breach in the idol’s height by attributing it to their age-old tradition.
