Bhubaneswar: Ganja worth approximately ₹3.7 lakh was seized and five persons were arrested after two NDPS cases were detected today by the EI & EB, Unit-II, Cuttack.
The arrests were made following coordinated raids by the Excise officials at Tangi Toll Gate and Manguli Chhaka under Tangi police limits.
The arrested accused have been identified as: Sisir Gahir (26), Sisdev Sahu (31), Saraswati Roy (39), Sadhana Mondal (39) and Tuktuki Mondal (35).
Officials seized 37 kilograms of ganja, following which all five accused were forwarded to judicial custody under provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The raiding team included Inspector Dhiren Kumar Behera, Inspector Abani Kumar Mohapatra, SI Dibyajyoti Satyaprakash, ASI Kishore Chandra Rout, and constables Ranjan Kumar Patra, Kishan Kumar Sabut, Aswini Kumar Parida, Biswanath Bhoi, Prakash Kumar Satapathy, Rajni Panchabhaya, and Sumitra Samal.
The Excise officials said that intensified enforcement efforts will continue to curb illegal drug trafficking in the region.
