Cuttack: A day after cracking the sensational IIFL gold robbery case, the Twin City police today brought the accused to the Nayasarak branch of India Infoline Finance Ltd (IIFL).
At least five accused persons, escorted by a police team of Cuttack UPD arrived at IIFL office where the former were asked to reconstruct the crime scene. After recreating the crime scene, the accused were taken back to judicial custody.
The broad daylight robbery was commited on November 19. The mastermind of this act was a gold appraiser with IIFL, Lala Amrut Sagar Ray. His friend-cum-colleague Nilima Lenka was also one of the main associate in the act.
The police arrested five others apart from Ray and Lenka in this case and seized around 3 kg gold from their possession. Besides, cash of Rs 5 lakh and an expesive car has also been recovered.
The police team was led by Additional DCsP Trinath Mishra and Pramod Rath. The accused in this case have been booked and forwarded to the court on Wednesday.
