Cuttack: Odisha, especially Cuttack, celebrated the 127th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, India’s great freedom fighter, with pomp and glory on Tuesday. Incidentally, Cuttack is the birthplace of the great freedom fighter and the founder of the Indian National Army (INA).
Several dignitaries, school children, and the common people visited Janki Nath Bhawan, Netaji’s birthplace and now a museum named after Subhash Bose, and garlanded the freedom fighter’s portrait. The museum as well as the city reverberated with slogans like ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Netaji Amar Rahe’.
Various programmes were organised by the Netaji Birthplace Museum Trust. ‘Ram Dhun’ was presented in the morning by the District Information and Public Relations (DIPR). Later, wreaths were placed on the numerous statues of Netaji located in different parts of the city. Along with this, a voluntary blood donation camp was inaugurated by the Blood Donor Council on the occasion of Netaji’s birthday.
Odia Language Literature & Culture Ashwini Kumar Patra addressed the audience after hoisting the national flag on the museum premises. He also visited Mrinmay Bhaskarya organised by the Odisha Academy of Fine Arts and appreciated the sculptors.
