Cuttack: In a late night dacoity allegedly attempted at Haripur village under Kanpur Police Station (PS) limits in the district here last night, a family has allegedly been looted at gunpoint and has also narrowly escaped the murderous bid on them as the miscreants allegedly hurled bomb.
As per the FIR lodged with the Kanpur police, complainant Amiya Panda and his family members had returned home late last night after attending a social function. Hearing a commotion outside, Amiya came outside and noticed 8-10 miscreants allegedly hailing from the same village brandished gun at him. A scuffle endued following which Amiya’s family members also ventured out of home when they were allegedly robbed of their gold ornaments. The miscreants also allegedly hurled bomb at them, but they miraculously escaped unhurt.
Registering a case basing on Amiya’s FIR soon after, the Kanpur police rushed to the spot and initiated investigation.
As per reports, the police have detained two suspects and interrogation was on.
Till the filing of the report, no one was arrested.
