Jajpur: Family members of Cuttack Special POCSO Court judge Subash Kumar Bihari who on Friday was found dead hanging from a ceiling fan in his official residence at Sector 9, CDA here have alleged that he has been murdered.
Deceased judge Subash Kumar Bihari’s mother Tulasi Bihari and his cousin Arun Pahi have alleged that he was murdered by his wife Aparajita Ray and his brother-in-law who had made it appear like that of a case of suicide.
“My daughter-in-law and her brother have killed my son. My son is gone who is going to feed me at this age? I had brought up my son They didn’t even show me his body,” alleged deceased Subash Kumar’s mother Tulasi Bihari.
“He was my younger brother. He has been killed. Six months back my aunt (deceased’s mother) fractured her leg and my brother had spent around 1.5-2 lakh. My sister-in-law (deceased’s wife) and her brother killed my brother (deceased) over that. We want justice. We are going to file an FIR against my sister-in-law and his brother,” alleged Arun Pahi, the deceased’s cousin.
Deceased Subash Kumar belonged to the Vaishnav sect and as per the sect’s practice, the dead are buried and not cremated.
But however, Subash Kumar’s body was cremated at Swargadwar in Puri against the wishes of his family members from his paternal side. Subash Kumar’s wife Aparajita and her brother had allegedly misbehaved with his cousins.
“In our sect, the dead are buried but his wife and her brother got him cremated at Puri. This is against our tradition. The distance between our village Panikoili and Cuttack is not that great. They could have brought him here; his mother could have seen her son for the last time. We suspect some kind of foul play in the matter,” said Girish Bihari, a relative of the deceased.
“On getting news of my brother’s death I came from Bengaluru but I was not allowed to have the last darshan of his body. We were misbehaved by his wife. His mother was also not shown his body. We suspect foul play. We want justice,” said Sumanta Bihari, another cousin of the deceased.
At the time of filing of this report, the deceased’s mother and one of his cousins had left Panikoili (the deceased’s ancestral home) for Cuttack to file an FIR at Markatnagar police station.
