Cuttack: A youth went missing after a scooter he was travelling in fell into Puri Canal under Baranga police limits in Cuttack district late Sunday night.
The missing youth has been identified as Rakesh Sahu of Nakhara.
According to sources, Rakesh, an employee of Omfed plant, was returning home when he fell into the canal. Though locals went into the water to rescue Rakesh failed to trace him. They, however, recovered the scooty from the canal.
On a tip-off, a fire brigade team rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Till the report came in, the team is yet to trace Rakesh.
Police are investigating different angles of the case and the reasons that led to the unfortunate mishap.
