Bhubaneswar: Tourists and food lovers in Cuttack will soon be able to enjoy a variety of delicious cuisines in a vibrant and entertaining environment, as the much-awaited Barabati Food Court is set to be inaugurated after May.
Cuttack Mayor Subash Singh announced that the construction work of the food court has already been completed, and the facility will be thrown open to the public once the second phase of shop allotment is finished.
Speaking on the project, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner Kirandeep Kaur Sahota said, “The construction of the Barabati Food Court has been completed. Only minor pending works like the boundary wall, entry gate, and painting are in progress. Our top priority now is the transparent allotment of shops.”
She further informed that the first phase of allotment has been completed through a lottery process conducted in the presence of two retired judges. 45 shops have already been allotted, and allotment letters will be issued to the successful applicants within the next two days.
For the second phase, the CMC has uploaded an advertisement on its official website inviting applications. As many as 38 shops — including 36 Category B and 2 Category A shops — are now open for application. Interested parties can visit the CMC website for details and submit their applications.
“After completion of the second phase allotment, we will proceed with the final allotment very soon and open the food court for the public,” Commissioner Sahota added.
The Barabati Food Court, located near the iconic Barabati Stadium, is expected to become a major attraction for both locals and tourists, offering diverse food options in a lively setting.
Once operational, the food court is likely to boost tourism and provide a new dining destination in the heart of Cuttack. Further updates on the exact inauguration date will be announced after the allotment process is fully completed.
