Bhubaneswar:  The Health and Family Welfare Department has ensured that all its field health centres, health temples, primary health centres, community health centres, district headquarters hospitals, and medical colleges and hospitals are fully prepared to provide health services after Cyclone ‘Montha’ makes landfall.

As of this morning, 8,804 women in imminent labour have been admitted to health centres and are being examined. Among them, 1,061 women have delivered babies safely. These women are from various districts, including Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, and Rayagada.

The health department has made necessary arrangements to ensure the availability of essential medicines, oxygen cylinders, and blood banks. Hospitals and health centres have been stocked with tablets, ORS solution, snakebite injections, and bleaching powder packets.  24-hour control rooms have been opened in district headquarters hospitals, and arrangements have been made for the immediate dissemination of information and awareness regarding health services.
