Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area lies over central parts of Andaman Sea & neighbourhood. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over southeast & adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal by tomorrow, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday.
The system is to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over central parts of the Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 24 hours. Subsequently, it is likely to move northwestwards, intensify further and reach near north Andhra Pradesh– Odisha coasts around the morning of December 4.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during December 1 and 2; over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh on December 3 and 4; over coastal Odisha during December 3 to 5; over Gangetic West Bengal during December 4 and 5. Isolated extremely heavy falls also likely over coastal Odisha and north Coastal Andhra Pradesh on December 4.
Meanwhile, fishermen have been advised not to venture into Andaman Sea on December 1 and 2 over southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal on December 2 and 3 over west-central & adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal and along & off north Andhra Pradesh – Odisha- West Bengal coasts during December 3 to 5.
