Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy appraised National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) at its third meeting today that evacuation of people from the vulnerable area has started from today and would be completed by evening.
Tripathy also appraised the NCMC during the meeting that manpower and equipment for immediate restoration of road and power communication from both sides and arrangements have been made to resume water supply very quickly just after the cyclone.
Additional Chief Secretary and Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena who also took part in the meeting along with Principal Secretary Home Sanjiv Chopra appraised the NCMC that in addition to Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) and local administration, the State Government is using local-based alert system (LBAS) and self-broadcasting for extending the government’s outreach to people in the management of the cyclone.
The NCMC which was chaired by Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba reviewed preparedness for Cyclone Amphan, evacuation, relief, rescue and immediate restoration of road communication, power connectivity etc.
The Cabinet Secretary assured of all assistance to State for countering the cyclone.
He directed different central departments to stay in touch with State departments.
