Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government suspended four employees, including three Panchayat Executive Officers (PEOs) and one Revenue Inspector (RI) due to dereliction of duty during Cyclone Dana.
According to Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, the behaviour of these employees was harsh towards the public during the disaster period, which led to disciplinary action against the employees.
Minister Pujari made it clear that the government will not tolerate any negligence in duty, and those found guilty will face punishment. On the other hand, employees who performed their duties diligently and supported the people during the calamity will be recognized and rewarded by the government.
In addition to the suspensions, the minister has sought reports from collectors regarding other employees who allegedly violated government rules.
“The government is also assessing the damage and loss incurred due to Cyclone Dana, with a preliminary report already submitted. Further assessment will involve an aerial survey to determine the extent of damage caused by the cyclone. Once the weather clears, our officials will visit the affected areas to gather more information on the ground”, maintained Pujari.
