Cyclone Dana Damage Assessment Report By Tomorrow: Minister Pujari

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is set to complete its damage assessment from Cyclone ‘Dana’ by November 3, according to Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari.

The cyclone severely impacted three districts—Balasore, Bhadrak, and Kendrapara—with Balasore being the worst-affected, primarily due to flooding rather than direct storm impact.

Minister Pujari stated that the state government is currently gathering reports from affected districts. “Once the final assessment is compiled, we will submit it to the Central government,” he said. Following this, a Central team is expected to visit the cyclone-hit areas for on-ground inspection.

Minister Pujari also clarified that while the process for the Central government’s financial grant will proceed after the report submission, the state government is prepared to initiate compensation disbursements immediately upon completing the assessment.

While Balasore, Bhadrak, and Kendrapara bore the brunt of the storm, several other districts were partially affected.
