Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Tuesday deputed six senior IAS officers to the districts where they once worked as Collectors to utilize their experiences for supervision of rescue and relief operation on account of impending Cyclone Dana.
According to the office order issued by the Office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), senior IAS officers are drafted to the districts for overall supervision of rescue and relief operation on account of impending cyclonic storm over Bay of Bengal. The officers have been asked to reach the assigned districts by morning of October 23 positively.
While K Sudarshan Chakravarthy, Director , Minor Minerals has been assigned Balasore district, Trilochan Majhi, Additional Secretary, R&DM has been assigned Bhadrak, Balwant Singh, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Tourism Department has been assigned Puri, Vineet Bhardwaj, Director-cum-Addl Secretary, Drinking Water & Sanitation has been assigned Mayurbhanj, Yamini Sarangi, SPD, OAVs has been assigned Jagatsinghpur and Samarth Verma Director, Tourism has been assigned Kendrapara.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Dana is likely to make landfall between Odisha’s Puri, and West Bengal’s Sagar Island between Thursday night and Friday morning as a severe cyclonic storm.
