Bhubaneswar: With Odisha bracing for cyclonic storm Dana, Principal Secretary of Housing &Urban Development (H&UD) Department Usha Padhee on Monday conducted a comprehensive review of the preparedness of all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) through a video conference.

The meeting included senior officials such as the Director of Municipal Administration, Special Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, Commissioners from five Municipal Corporations, and Executive Officers of all Municipalities and NACs.

During the review meeting, Padhee emphasized the need for constant coordination with the district administration and directed the immediate activation of the unified 24×7 control room.

She urged all ULBs to be fully prepared to address potential challenges.

Padhee emphasized the importance of uninterrupted water supply, effective water logging management, and rapid action teams to respond to emergencies as part of measures to minimize the cyclone’s impact on citizens through efficient coordination and swift response.

Padhee has asked the concerned officials to ensure uninterrupted access to clean water during and after the cyclone.

Besides, the H&UD Principal Secretary has laid stress on swift action to prevent and address flooding in low-lying areas.

Nodal officers have also been instructed to remain on high alert, to continuously monitor the situation, and provide regular updates.

Padhee stressed the importance of efficient coordination and swift response to minimize the impact on citizens.

With Cyclone Dana brewing over the Bay of Bengal, Odisha’s urban local bodies are now fully equipped to handle any exigencies, maintaining essential services during this critical time.
