Bhubaneswar: The severe cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ which made landfall at Bhitarkanika on late October 24 night, has further weakened into a deep depression.
The IMD stated in its latest bulletin that the cyclone ‘Dana’ moved northwestwards at a speed of 7 km/h over the past six hours and has weakened into a deep depression.
As of 2.30 PM, it lay centred near latitude 21.4° N and longitude 86.4°E over north coastal Odisha, approximately 40 km north-northwest of Bhadrak.
The maximum sustained wind around the system is 55-65 km/h, gusting up to 75 km/h. “Dana” is expected to move westward across north Odisha and gradually weaken into a depression within next 12 hours, the IMD said.
