Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will start disbursing cash of Rs 2,500 and 50 kg rice to beneficiaries under the Food Security Act. The relief distribution will be carried out across all the Municipal Wards of the BMC in phases.
The Corporation has deployed a large contingent of officials and personnel to ensure that the relief package reaches out to every single person/family affected by the devastation caused by cyclone Fani in Bhubaneswar, Additional Commissioner BMC, Rajendra Pattnayak said.
“The free kitchens are working in the city at 130 centres since May 2. From today onward, the relief package distribution, as per the declaration of the Chief Minister will be started,” he added.
All the beneficiaries (more than 1 lakh) under National Food Security Act and State Food Security Programme will be covered under in the package.
“Rs 500 will be meant for polythene and Rs 2,000 as compensation for damage to other essentials. Rs 90,000 will be paid to people whose houses have been completely destroyed. Our teams are on toes to complete the damage assessment,” he added.
