Bhubaneswar: As the clock ticks towards the deadline of cyclone Fani’s landfall in Puri, the apprehensions of general public is on a rise. Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi spoke to the people of the State and said that instead of panicking, people should stay calm and remain indoors during the cyclone period.
As Fani will make a landfall in Puri, the district will be most affected in the cyclone. Padhi advised that people of Puri should excercise maximum caution during the exigent period. The post-landfall period is most precarious. The public are being requested to not come out of their homes on Friday morning till afternoon at any cost, he said.
“During the landfall, the environment will bear striking resemblance to a lull before the storm and the wind speed would reduce for sometime. The public should not assume that the cyclone has passed and excercise maximum caution as the cyclone would attain severity post landfall.”
“In the cyclone affected districts, all Government offices, except those engaged in cyclone-management activities will remain closed on May 3. The State Government is fully prepared to face the calamity. I request people to cooperate and not lose their calm,” Padhi added.
