Bhubaneswar: In view of the Cyclonic Storm Jawad, the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued an advisory for the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The Meteorological Centre has predicted that generally cloudy sky with a few intense spells of rain is very likely to occur over Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city area today.
It has also warned of very likely heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city area with a wind speed of 40 to 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph.
Similarly, on Sunday, generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain with one or two intense spells is very likely to occur over the twin cities.
Besides, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur in some parts of Cuttack city area and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over Bhubaneswar city area with a wind speed of 40 to 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph.
It may lead to waterlogging in low lying areas and closure of underpasses; occasional reduction in visibility during intense spells of rain; disruption of traffic due to waterlogging in roads leading to increased travel time; and breaking of tree branches.
The Meteorological Centre has advised people to check for traffic congestion on their route before leaving for their destination, follow any traffic advisories that are issued in this regard, and avoid going to areas that face waterlogging problems often.
