Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has assured that the state government is fully prepared to tackle Cyclone Montha, with the primary goal of achieving zero casualties. The state has taken extensive measures to protect people from all sections of society.
The Chief Minister reviewed the preparations for the cyclone with senior officials, including Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, and directed all departments to work in a coordinated manner. So far, 17,817 people have been evacuated to safer places, and more evacuations are planned if needed.
The government has made arrangements for food, health, and shelter in cyclone centers. ODRF and NDRF teams have been deployed to deal with the disaster. In preparation for the cyclone, 2098 pregnant women have been shifted to hospitals from 8 districts, and 651 more will be shifted if necessary.
The Chief Minister visited the control room of the Special Relief Commissioner and inspected the preparations. He said that Odisha, being a natural disaster-prone state, has experience in dealing with cyclones, floods, and other natural disasters, and the government is well-prepared to handle the situation.
