Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic storm, Senyar, has formed over the Strait of Malacca and adjoining Northeast Indonesia, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported on Wednesday.
According to IMD, the storm is currently centred approximately 100 km east of Kuta Makmur, Indonesia, and is likely to maintain its intensity over the next 24 hours before weakening gradually. Senyar is expected to move westwards and cross the Indonesian coast around latitude 5.0°N on Tuesday forenoon. The storm is then likely to move west-southwestwards initially before recurving eastwards in the subsequent 48 hours.
The IMD has issued a warning, and authorities are likely to monitor the situation closely. The regional weather office has maintained that the system won’t have any impact on Odisha.
