**Bhubaneswar:** Three persons including a woman have died in Gajapati district due to floods triggered by very severe cyclonic storm Titli today.
Two labourers died in their quarters on the premises of a marble factory in Labanyagada panchayat today morning. The deceased were residents of Balasore district, said Gajapati Collector, Anupam Saha.
A woman died due to wall collapse in the aftermath of the flood in Kashinagar town of Gajapati. “Though there was incessant rainfall in the district there is no flood so far. The NDRF teams are on their way to join relief operations,” Saha added.
On the other hand Ganjam district is facing the wrath of severe floods. On Friday, 11 villages of Aska, 20 villages of Purushottampur and some villages of Chattrapur and Ganjam have been severely battered by the floods.
There was a report about a family of six being swept away in Ganjam’s Sorada on Thursday. Collector, Vijay Amruta Kulange said that one ODRAF team under the supervision of Bhanjanagar Sub-Collector have been pressed in the search operation.
Overall, for every block one senior nodal officer, police and fire services teams, ODRAF, NDRF, Navy and Coast Guard are engaged in relief and rescue operations, he said.
Two helicopters have been flown from Rangeilunda airbase for dropping food packets in the flood affected villages. The Indian Army will join the relief operations on Saturday.
“On Thursday the flood situation was severe in Sorada, Dharakote, Seragada, Kabisurya Nagar, Sanakhemundi, Patrapur, Digapahandi and Hinjili. There have been no casualties reported in the district so far and the flood situation is under control,” Kulange added.
