Kendrapada: As the landfall process of very severe cyclone YAAS continues on Odisha coast, the entire Kendrapada district has bee affected by the system.
Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds with speed upto 70 to 80 kmph, gusting to 90 kmph was witnessed in the district with trees and electricity poles uprooted in some areas.
The most affected areas are Rajnagar and Mahakalpara where water logging has started due to the high tide on the river mouth at Talachua, reports stated.
Similarly, Rajkanakina, Ali, Pattamundai, Marshaghai, Derabis, and Garadapur are also experiencing the impact of the severe storm.
An electricity restoration personnel sustained injuries in Baradia village at Dangamal. He was rescued safely.
Total 1.05 lakh persons from low-lying and vulnerable areas have been rescued and shifted to 400 schools and 117 cyclone shelters in the district.
