Bhubaneswar: The Cyclonic Storm ‘Yaas’ weakened into a Deep Depression last night and is to weaken gradually into a Depression by today morning, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday.
The system lay centred over South Jharkhand and adjoining North Interior Odisha about 60 km west-southwest of Jamshedpur and 110 km south-southeast of Ranchi at 11.30 PM.
It is very likely to move further northwestwards and weaken gradually into a Depression during the next 12 hours.
Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall is to occur at most places with heavy to very heavy rains at a few places over North Interior Odisha during the next 12 hours.
Light to moderate rainfall is to occur at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Medinipur, Jhargram and Bankura in West Bengal during the same period.
Similarly, light to moderate rainfall is to occur at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall and extremely heavy falls at isolated places in Jharkhand during the next 24 hours.
