Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic storm “Michaung” (pronounced as Migjaum) over west-central and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal off south Andhra Pradesh and adjoining north Tamil Nadu coasts has moved north-westwards and intensified into a severe cyclonic storm, the India Meteorological Department said in its midday bulletin.
It is likely to intensify gradually and move nearly northwards almost parallel and close to south Andhra Pradesh coast and cross South Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam, close to Bapatla during December 5 forenoon as a severe cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph.

Light to moderate rain/ thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapti, Ganjam, and Puri, at a few places over the districts of Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Khurdha, Jagatsinghpur, and Cuttack and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
