Bhubaneswar: Following extensive raids in the capital city here as well as Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Bihar for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets apart from accumulating huge amount of wealth and property to a tune of several crores, the sleuths of State Vigilance today arrested 1987 batch Odisha cadre IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak and his son Akash.
They were sent to jail after their bail plea was rejected.
Earlier in the day, the father-son duo underwent the mandatory medical check-up at the Capital Hospital here.
The IFS officer is the incumbent Additional PCCF (Plan, Programme and Afforestation) of the State since June 2018.
Sources said, the State Vigilance recently seized over half kilogram of gold and Rs 10 lakh cash from his house here.
He and his family allegedly enjoyed a lavish lifestyle by flying often in chartered plane to Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Patna during the lockdown and post-lockdown period this year.
The State Vigilance raid revealed that the senior IFS officer also owns a lavish apartment in Khandagiri area here with Italian marble flooring, bed made of ivory worth over lakhs of rupees and many other luxurious household items. They also own many aristocratic cars.
The Vigilance sleuths have also reportedly seized lots of wildlife products.
His son also allegedly leads an aristocratic lifestyle.
Reports further said that the son’s marriage was on December 11 with the daughter of a wealthy politician for which a palace hotel in Rajasthan’s Udaipur had been booked as the wedding destination.
It has also been alleged that son Akash was allegedly duping people, especially during the nationwide lockdown period, and amassed money on the pretext of providing jobs at a famous Indian company claiming himself to be a managing director (MD) there. He also allegedly used forged documents, logo, and email id of the company.
