Dacoity Bid Foiled, Dhenkanal Police Arrests Four

Dhenkanal: Four persons have been arrested by the Town Police here today on charges of dacoity and possession of illegal arms. The accused have been identified as Sidhanta Mishra (22) of Kunjakanta, Prasant Sahu (35) of Kunjakanta, Soumya Ranjan Sahu (19) of Kanchan Bazar and Satyajit Pradhan (28) of Gudianali, all under the Town police limits.

According to the police, on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday (October 22 and 23), four persons showed up at a petrol pump in Kathagada area and demanded money from the staff. The miscreants fled after one of the filling station employees rang up the mobile PCR van.

The next morning, the petrol pump’s owner filed a complaint with Town Police in this matter. On the basis of the complaint an FIR was registered and a manhunt was launched to nab the accused.

“During course of investigation, the involvement of four persons was established . They have been booked under relevant Sections of the IPC and the Arms Act and forwarded to the court. Further investigation is on,” SP in-Charge, Dhenkanal, Jagmohan Meena said.

The police have seized two swords, three motorcycles, as many mobile phones and four packets of chilly powder from the possession of the accused.
