Bhubaneswar: The upward trend in daily Covid-19 caseload continued in Odisha with the state registering 502 new active infections of the virus during the last 24 hours, read a statement issued by the Health Department on Sunday.
It is worth mentioning here that Odisha is among the states that have been fuelling the country’s fresh active Covid-19 cases. Odisha had reported 400-plus Covid-19 cases for two consecutive days on Saturday and Sunday. The state reported 387 new cases on Thursday and 431 Covid-19 infections were detected on Friday.
With the detection of 502 new cases of Covid infections, the active caseload in Odisha now stands at 2,926. The new cases were detected after testing 6,616 samples in different parts of the state in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, India recorded a single-day rise of 10,112 fresh Covid-19 infections during the last 24 hours, while the number of active cases increased to 67,806, according to Union Health Ministry data.
With the fresh cases, India’s Covid-19 tally stands at 4,48,91,989. The death toll climbed to 5,31,329 with 29 fatalities, including seven reconciled in Kerala. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 7.03 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 5.43 per cent.
