Puri: Daitapati sevayats (servitors) of the Shree Jagannath temple today informed Gajapati Maharaja Dibya Singha Deb-the titular king of Puri that Lord Jagannath and his siblings are recuperating from their illness.
The ritual of Daitapati servitors visiting the Gajapati’s palace (Sri Nahar) to inform about the recovery of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra from fever is called the Raj Prasad Bije Niti.
The Daitapati servitors who went in a procession carrying prasada chandan, karala chandan removed from the deities on a silver platter to the Sri Nahar told the Gajapati that the deities recovered after being served ‘Dasamula Osua’ (ten herbs) on occasion of the ‘Dashami tithi’.
‘Dasamula Osua’ which was prepared by the Raj Baidya (royal physician) was given to the sibling deities, who were in the ‘Anasara’ (kind of quarantine) since the ‘Snana Purnima’.
The servitors also informed the Gajapati Maharaja that the ‘Chandana Lagi’ ritual of the deities was performed during ‘Ekadasi tithi’ on Friday.
“As per tradition Daitapati servitors, today on the occasion of ‘Dwadashi tithi’ had visited the Sri Nahar with the Raj Prasad Bije of the three deities. The Anasara niti of the Mahaprabhu is being observed as per prescribed norms. Daitapati servitors are providing excellent service to the Mahaprabhu. Everything is going smoothly and as per schedule. I am hopeful that the devotees will have a smooth darshan of the Lords on July 29 on the occasion of Naba Joubana Darshan. And on July 1 in Mahaprabhu’s Shree Gundicha Yatra we all shall take part as Covid has eased with His blessings,” said Gajapati Maharaja Dibya Singha Deb speaking to reporters.
Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will give darshan to the devotees on the occasion of Naba Joubana Darshan which falls on June 29.
Gundicha Yatra of Lord Jagannath’s annual Rath Yatra will be held on July 1.
