Balasore: In a broad daylight dacoity, armed miscreants allegedly looted around Rs 30 to Rs 40 lakh from a Union Bank branch located at Chandaneswar in Balasore district on Wednesday.
According to initial reports, around seven to eight miscreants entered the bank posing as customers around 1:20 pm. They looted the cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs 40 lakh after locking all the bank staff in the locker room after flashing firearms.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police rushed to the bank and rescued the staff by opening the locker room.
Jaleswar SDPO and officials of Chandaneswar police station have launched an investigation into the incident. After committing the crime, the miscreants reportedly fled toward West Bengal.
