Puri: With just a day left for the famous Snana Yatra (bathing ritual) of Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra on 4th June (Sunday), darshan of the deities by devotees will remain closed for 16 hours from 10 pm today till 2 pm tomorrow (Saturday).
During the aforementioned period, several tasks in preparation for the rituals of the Snana Yatra shall be undertaken.
On the day of Snana Yatra (Debasnana Purnima) following the completion of ‘Senna Patta Niti’ early at dawn, ‘Pahandi’ of the deities will commence and be completed before 6 am.
It has been decided that the holy bath of the deities will be over by 9 am and ‘Hati Besha’ or ‘Gajanana Besha’ will take place at 12 noon. Similarly, the ‘Bahuda Pahandi’ of the deities will take place by 11 pm.
The decisions were taken at a meeting chaired by the Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Ranjan Kumar Das.
The meeting was attended by Bhitar Sevayat Nijog, a Member of the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee, Daitapati Nijog and officials of SJTA.
The meeting decided to complete the rituals early.
Secretary of Daitapati Nijog Ramkrushna Das Mohapatra has said that Snana Yatra rituals depend on the timely completion of rituals inside the temple, so special attention will be paid to that.
Further, it will be ensured that no sevayat stands in front of the deities obstructing darshan by devotees, he added. The three-row barricading arrangement has been made for darshan by devotees in the queue from Market Chhak. The barricaded queue area will have a cloth ceiling.
Keeping in view the huge rush of devotees, it has been ordered to keep shops between Market Chhak to Sri Nahar closed from June 3 to June 5 morning.
