Bhubaneswar: Darshan of the deities at the Puri Shree Jagannath Temple will remain out of bounds for devotees for four hours on Monday in view of special rituals scheduled for Amavasya.
In a notification, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said Shri Vigrahaman Chitalagi Niti will be performed in the temple on the occasion of Sravana-Krishna Amavasya.
According to reports, during the Chitalagi Niti, which is performed once in a year, Vigrahaman is worshipped to seek blessings for prosperity and well-being of the people. The servitors need to follow strict regulations and practices while conducting the Niti.
In order to ensure that the rituals are performed unhindered and amid a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, devotees will not be allowed to go inside the temple to have darshan of sibling deities for four hours today.
The SJTA announced that the temple will remain closed for devotees after the completion of the Bhogamandam ritual from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm on Monday.
