Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Sukma Hansdah, Inspector In Charge (IIC) of Dasmantpur Police Station in Koraput district, for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 to submit a case diary in court.
According to reports, Hansdah demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the relative of the accused to produce the Case Diary and enable bail. It prompted a relative of the accused to approach the Vigilance authorities. Acting on this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Hansdah today while taking Rs 20,000 bribe from the relative of the accused.
The Vigilance team recovered the entire bribe amount of Rs. 20,000 from Hansdah’s possession and seized it. Searches are underway at two locations linked to the accused IIC from the DA angle.
A case (Koraput Vigilance PS Case No 39/2025) has been registered against Hansdah under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and the probe is ongoing
