**Boudh**: In a poignant incident at Basudevpalli village under Manamunda Police Station of Boudh district, a leper aged Jaynarayan Sahu (60) died on Wednesday morning but no one came forward from the village to carry his dead body for cremation.
Against the ritualistic Hindu tradition, Jaynarayan’s daughter Manjurani joined her brother Sanjib and husband to carry her father’s body to the cremation ground for funeral.
According to reports, the villagers had ostracised the family as the father was suffering from leprosy.
The stigma related to leprosy still looms large in India as the leprosy control and elimination faces many challenges.
