Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths arrested Assistant Executive Engineer Arjun Kumar Sahoo on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
He will be produced in a special vigilance court today, officials said.
Sahoo was the assistant engineer of Rural Works Sub-Division, Salipur, Cuttack district.
Vigilance arrested him after conducting searches on his properties. He was found in possession of disproportionate assets including two buildings (one multi-storeyed building worth Rs 1crore in Bhubaneswar), 21 plots, deposits over Rs 70.09 lakhs, gold jewellery weighing around 218 gms, cash Rs.2.83 lakhs, 3 four wheelers which he could not account for satisfactorily, vigilance stated through an official release.
Vigilance officials on Friday launched simultaneous house searches at premises linked to Sahoo.
The raids were carried out at eight places in Khurdha (Bhubaneswar), Cuttack and Kendrapara districts. Eight DSPs, eight Inspectors, seven ASIs, and other staff were engaged in the crackdown.
