Bhubaneswar: At least 12 places in Odisha recorded a maximum temperature of 37.0°C during the last 24 hours indicating a hot summer ahead.
While dry weather prevailed across the state, the highest maximum temperature of 38.3°C was recorded at Sonepur and the lowest minimum temperature of 12.0°C was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.
The IMD has issued a yellow warning for dense fog at one or two places over the districts of Khurda, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Bhadrak.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin said that the minimum temperatures observed marked a rise at one or two places over the districts of south coastal Odisha, an appreciable rise at one or two places over the districts of north Odisha, an appreciable fall at one or two places over the districts of south interior Odisha and no major change elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.
Meanwhile, the temperature of the capital city Bhubaneswar was 38.0°C during the day. Similarly, the temperature at Talcher was 38.2°C and 38°C in Nayagarh.
The weather department has forecast that there will be no change in the weather for the next five days. Dry air is flowing into the state from the western part of the country.
February is becoming hotter day by day. As there has been no rain in the state since October, the temperature is rising steadily.
