Bhubaneswar: If the meteorological department’s forecast is any indication, most places in Odisha are likely to experience hotter days ahead. According to the weather office, the maximum temperatures (day temperatures) will be 3°C-4°C higher than normal in most places across the state during the next few days making life uncomfortable.
The regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that in several places the mercury will soar to 40°C. In comparison, the minimum temperatures (night temperatures) will also rise by 2°C -3°C by the beginning of April.
The day temperature is likely to touch 40°C in Bolangir, Titilagarh, Sundargarh, Malkangiri, Boudh, Angul, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bhavanipatna, Rayagada, and Gajapati tomorrow, the weather office warned.
On the other hand, some districts in northern Odisha will experience Kalbaisakhi during the next four to five days. The IMD has issued a yellow warning for light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Jajpur today.
The storm’s speed will be 30 to 40 kmph during the Kalbaisakhi, the MeT has warned. The Kalbaishakhi will prevail in these regions from Friday to Tuesday. Barring north coastal Odisha, the weather will remain dry in the remaining districts of Odisha.
