Bhubaneswar: After three days of heavy rain, the weather changed across Odisha on Thursday. While dense fog engulfed the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack today morning, the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here, predicted that the day temperatures are likely to rise by 8°C to 10°C in most parts of the state during the coming week.
According to the weather office, some parts of interior and coastal Odisha may record day temperatures up to 40°C by the end of March. It further predicted that Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, and Gajapati districts may experience thunder and lightning accompanied by rain today.
While continuous rains during the last 72 hours have brought down the temperature considerably, some places in western Odisha such as Boudh and Titlagarh are likely to record the highest temperature in the state in the next few days. The day temperature in some districts like Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Bolangir, Rayagada, and Malkangiri may witness the maximum temperatures touching 38°C -39°C in the coming days.
The night-time temperatures (minimum temperatures) may also increase by 3°C – 5°C in the next week in most places in Odisha.
