According to reports, the deceased, a resident of Sundarapala Village, drowned in a canal here.

He was admitted to the hospital after being rescued by the villagers. at around 2 PM, he was declared dead by the doctors.

According to the standard operational procedure, the hospital authorities should have informed the local police about it after which the body would have gone for a post mortem. But the autopsy was delayed for more than 20 hours as the police personnel were not informed about the incident.
